This episode introduces Ryoga, one of the funniest and most memorable characters in Ranma ½. From the moment he appears, it is clear that he has a very different personality from Ranma. Ryoga is serious, emotional, and incredibly bad at finding his way anywhere. The episode does a great job mixing action and comedy, especially when Ryoga’s rivalry with Ranma quickly turns into complete chaos. One of the funniest parts is how his terrible sense of direction causes him to appear in the wrong places again and again. Even though the episode is very funny, it also gives Ryoga a little emotional depth and explains why he is so angry with Ranma. By the end, he already feels like an important part of the cast and adds a lot of energy to the story.
