Rance 01: Hikari wo Motomete The Animation - Leazas no Yami
Oshimeter
Synopsis
At the Paris Academy, Lavender is just a student living a normal life — until Princess Lia Parapara Leazas decides she wants a new plaything. Kidnapped and dragged into a secret dungeon beneath the kingdom of Leazas, Lavender finds herself completely at the mercy of a sadistic royal with unlimited power and zero restraint. It only gets worse from there when Lia starts bringing in company. This is a single-episode special spun out of the long-running Rance visual novel franchise, adapted by Studio Seven. If you're familiar with the source material, you'll recognize the setting and characters. If you're not, the dungeon-dark tone speaks for itself pretty quickly. The focus here is entirely on the power imbalance between captor and captive — there's no redemption arc, no rescue brewing in the background, just an unflinching look at cruelty dressed in royal silk. The character designs carry that classic visual novel energy, and the production leans hard into the psychological weight of the scenario rather than glossing over it. If you've watched things like Discipline: The Record of a Crusade or Bible Black and wanted something rooted in an actual game universe with established lore behind it, this scratches that itch. It's bleak, it's deliberate, and it doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is. One episode, no padding, no ambiguity about what kind of story this is telling.
