The peaceful kingdom of Istoare and its ruling queen, Ilena, are thrown into chaos when an orc horde shows up and changes everything. The soundtrack leans into the darkness too, keeping the atmosphere consistently tense. If you're familiar with Kuroinu or Taimanin Asagi, you already know the general territory this OVA operates in — morally complicated power dynamics wrapped in a fantasy setting with serious stakes for the protagonist. It's a single episode adapted from a visual novel, so the pacing is tight and it doesn't overstay its welcome. This isn't something you'd recommend to someone looking for lighthearted fantasy. The tone is heavy and the subject matter is intentionally uncomfortable.
