Princess Principal: Crown Handler - Chapter 6
Oshimeter
Synopsis
In a 19th-century London cleaved in two by a giant wall, five girls at a fancy school moonlight as spies for the Commonwealth. That's the setup of Princess Principal, and Crown Handler 6 is the sixth movie continuing their story. Ange, Princess Charlotte, Dorothy, Beatrice, and Chise each bring something different to the team — deception, diplomacy, brute force, tech skills, and swordsmanship — and watching them navigate double-crosses and shifting loyalties in a steampunk Cold War never gets old. The whole franchise leans hard into its espionage roots, with missions that actually feel like spy work rather than just action scenes with spy costumes. There's real tension in not knowing who's playing whom. Yuki Kajiura handles the soundtrack, which gives everything that layered, atmospheric weight she's known for. If you liked the gothic mystery vibes of Gosick or the way Puella Magi Madoka Magica hides darker themes beneath a polished surface, this scratches a similar itch. The steampunk Victorian setting also carries some of that Rozen Maiden elegance, just traded for espionage instead of doll battles. Fair warning though — this is deep into the Crown Handler movie series, so you'd want to start with the original TV run and work through the earlier films first. But if you're already invested in these characters, this is where the political conspiracies keep unraveling.
