Oshiri Tantei 10th Season
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Picture a refined, tea-sipping gentleman detective who solves crimes with impeccable logic and polite manners. He also has a butt for a face. That's the premise of Oshiri Tantei, and somehow it completely works. Now in its tenth season, this long-running kids' mystery series follows the Butt Detective and his loyal dog assistant Brown as they unravel quirky cases in a colorful town full of eccentric humans and anthropomorphic animals. The formula is classic detective fare — suspicious characters, hidden clues, red herrings — except the show literally pauses to let you scan the screen and find evidence yourself, turning each episode into a low-key interactive puzzle. And every case wraps up with the detective's signature move: he politely says "Pardon me, please" and then farts directly into the villain's face to subdue them. It's exactly as ridiculous as it sounds, and kids absolutely lose their minds over it. The recurring cat-and-mouse dynamic with the flamboyant Phantom Thief U gives the season some continuity beyond standalone cases. If your kids liked Kaiketsu Zorori's goofy energy or the puzzle-solving vibe of Layton Mystery Tanteisha, this hits a similar sweet spot. There are even shades of Meitantei Conan's deduction scenes, just filtered through absurdist toilet humor and bright Toei Animation visuals. It's genuinely clever underneath the butt jokes, which is more than you'd expect from the premise.
