Ore ga Kanojo wo *su Wake
Oshimeter
Synopsis
The woman Ryuuji loved chose his brother over him, and he never got over it. That's the kind of thing that either fades with time or quietly warps a person from the inside — and for Ryuuji, it warped him. Years later, she's his sister-in-law, and life has moved on for everyone except him. Then his teenage niece, Rinka, shows up at his door after a fight with her parents, and he starts noticing how much she looks like her mother. That's where things get uncomfortable, fast. This is a 6-episode OVA from 2018 by Suzuki Mirano, and it leans hard into psychological tension built around obsession, guilt, and what happens when old wounds meet new situations. The setup is genuinely unsettling — not in a cheap way, but in a way that makes you sit with how far unresolved feelings can take someone. The animation holds up well for conveying the mood, and the story doesn't rush past the emotional weight of the premise. If you've explored darker character studies like Kanojo x Kanojo x Kanojo and found yourself wanting something with more psychological texture underneath, this goes further in that direction. It's not comfortable viewing, and that's kind of the point. Going in knowing the tone upfront makes it easier to appreciate what the story is actually doing with its characters rather than being blindsided by how dark it gets.
