Oni Chichi: Vacation

A weekend ski trip with her stepfather Kouzou sounds wholesome enough for Airi Akizuki, at least in theory. Airi turns out to be a pretty terrible skier, and before long a snowstorm rolls in and traps the two of them in a mountain cavern, alone, cut off from everyone else, and running low on body heat. That's the setup, and if you know the Oni Chichi series, you already know where this is headed. This 2016 single-episode OVA from PoRO is a vacation-themed entry in the ongoing Oni Chichi line, adapted from the visual novel, and it leans hard into the isolated, pressure-cooker dynamic between the two leads. The animation holds up well for the format — character designs are detailed and the wintry atmosphere actually gets some visual effort put into it, which makes the confined setting feel more convincing than you'd expect. If you've already watched Oni Chichi: Re-Birth or Oni Chichi: Re-Born, this one fits naturally into that same rhythm — similar tone, similar relationship dynamics, just a different backdrop. Oni Chichi: Rebuild fans will also find it familiar territory. It's a short watch, clearly made for an audience already invested in these characters, so going in cold without prior entries in the series will make it feel a bit thin. Treat it as an extra chapter rather than a standalone story and it lands the way it's supposed to.
