Oni Chichi: Refresh♥

Don't let the setup fool you — a beach vacation with your stepdad and best friend sounds pretty wholesome on paper, and then you remember this is a PoRO production. Oni Chichi: Refresh♥ is the third entry in the Oni Chichi series, picking up with Airi Akizuki, her friend Sana Kuranaka, and Airi's stepfather Kouzou heading to a coastal resort for what is technically a vacation. Kouzou is a biochemistry professor with a complicated history, and the dynamic between him and the girls carries over everything established in the earlier entries. The beach setting gives the four-episode OVA a breezy, sun-soaked visual palette, and PoRO puts genuine effort into the character designs and animation quality — this is noticeably cleaner and more polished than a lot of the genre. The relationships between the three leads are the real engine here, with enough history baked into the characters that returning fans will have context that makes each scene land differently than it would cold. If you've watched Resort Boin and liked that coastal resort framing, or you're familiar with something like Eroge! H mo Game mo Kaihatsu Zanmai's approach to character-driven adult content, this fits comfortably in that space. It's not trying to reinvent anything — it's a continuation that delivers exactly what fans of the series are looking for, in a prettier package than before. Four episodes, self-contained enough, but works best if you've seen the earlier Oni Chichi entries first.
