Oni Chichi: Rebuild
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Under his own roof, Kouzou Akizuki has been living a double life — a respectable stepfather on the surface, and something far more complicated behind closed doors. His two stepdaughters, Airi and Marina, have been tangled up with him in ways nobody outside the household knows about. Then their mother, Kayoko, comes home after a long absence, wanting to patch things up and be a real family again. She has no idea what she's walking back into. That tension — a woman slowly, unknowingly piecing together a situation that's already spiraled way beyond normal — is what drives the three episodes. Kouzou gets increasingly desperate as Kayoko grows more curious, and that pressure is where most of the drama lives. PoRO's animation is cleaner than a lot of titles in this space, and the character designs are detailed and consistent throughout. If you've watched Resort Boin or Kanojo x Kanojo x Kanojo and appreciated the production quality in those, this sits in similar territory but leans harder into the tension of secrecy and close-quarters family drama rather than straightforward comedy. Stringendo fans will also find the pacing familiar. It's a short watch at three episodes, adapted from a visual novel, so the story is already tightly structured. Don't go in expecting something lighthearted — the subject matter is deliberately uncomfortable, and the tone reflects that. If that dynamic is what you're looking for, this one delivers it with better craft than most.
