I was not prepared for the reveal that Ace is the Pirate King's son, especially after hearing about everything Rouge went through to keep him safe for twenty months, and it makes his walk up to those executioners feel so much heavier when you realize the history behind his bloodline and Garp's reaction to the announcement just makes the whole scene more painful
