One Piece: Stampede
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Picture every pirate crew you can think of, crammed onto one island, all fighting over a treasure that belonged to Gol D. Roger. That's the setup for Stampede, and it delivers exactly what that premise promises. This movie was made for One Piece's 20th anniversary, and Toei Animation clearly went all-in: Luffy, the Worst Generation, Warlords, Marines, and a terrifying new villain named Douglas Bullet, who was actually part of Roger's crew back in the day. The Pirate Festival on Delta Island starts as a massive treasure hunt organized by Buena Festa, but things go sideways fast when Bullet shows up and starts dismantling everyone. The real draw here is seeing characters who normally exist in separate corners of the One Piece world all thrown together and forced to deal with the same threat. It's basically an excuse to animate every matchup fans have wanted, and the fight choreography is genuinely impressive: fluid, creative, and scaled up in a way the TV series rarely gets to be. If you enjoyed the spectacle of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods or the crossover energy of something like Naruto Shippuden: The Movie, this hits a similar sweet spot. You don't need to be fully caught up on One Piece to enjoy it, but the more characters you recognize, the more fun it gets. It's a love letter to the franchise wrapped in one long, chaotic brawl.
