Arikoto gets forced to make more heartbreaking decisions just to be by Iemitsu's side as the epidemic ravaged more of the countryside, making society fall into a bigger disorder than ever. While the current government tries its best to hold on to that tenuous status quo, the characters get mired into messier knots that couldn't be untangled. This kind of complexities is why I love this show in the first place, and Episode 7 just displayed loads of it.
