NocturnaL

Synopsis
At school, Sayoko Miyamura is the kind of girl everyone admires, composed, polished, effortlessly well-liked. Eto knows this better than anyone, since he's been quietly carrying feelings for her for a while. Then one night, he spots her being followed by a group of men and forces himself to step in. He pulls her away, feels good about himself for about two seconds, and then realizes the Sayoko standing in front of him is nothing like the one he knows from class. Same face, completely different energy. That gap between who someone appears to be in daylight and who they actually are after dark is what NocturnaL leans into. It's a two-episode OVA from Blue bread, adapted from a manga, and it keeps things tight: no padding, no slow burn that goes nowhere. The blend of tension and eroticism works because the setup actually earns it; there's a real sense of surprise in that first encounter rather than the premise just being an excuse to skip to the explicit content. The artwork is detailed and expressive, which matters more than people give it credit for in this genre. If you've watched something like Eaternal Nocturnal and appreciated when a hentai OVA bothers to have an actual setup, this scratches a similar itch. Fans of Nocturnal Illusion's dual-persona framing will also find familiar ground here. It's short, it's well-drawn, and the duality angle gives it just enough of a hook to make it feel like more than a standard release.

Annette acts like she is the only person in the world who knows how to fight a revolution and it is kind of annoying already
I can't believe Richter basically got his mom killed by standing there and she had to push him out of the path of that hit
Richter seeing his mother die like that right in front of him was brutal and he is definitely going to be haunted by it for a long time
That dragon form for Olrox looks like a feathered serpent and it makes him way cooler than a standard vampire
the paladin boss sounds absolutely terrifying in the spanish dub and that voice fits a villain perfectly
I have mixed feelings about how fast everything moved in this first episode, because they just threw a dozen characters at us without much breathing room. Olrox is definitely the one who grabbed my attention most though and his voice acting is great. I keep thinking about Richter and his mom, and whether his guilt is actually justified since she basically chose to save him.
annette acting like she is the only person who knows how to handle the revolution was kind of annoying and she has major main character syndrome
It was pretty heavy watching Richter lose his mom like that, but I'm still not sure if it was actually his fault for being in the way.
olrox turning into that quetzalcoatl thing was definitely cool and his design is easily the most interesting one yet
I really liked that Olrox guy and his demon form looked like a snake god or something plus the way he just left Richter there was cold
the animation felt a bit choppy and those static faces were really noticeable during the fight scenes which sucked because the art is actually pretty
that mozart music playing during the scenes was a nice touch and it really fit the whole french revolution setting
introducing that many characters in one go made everything feel messy and hard to follow
I was not expecting Olrox to be the standout but he really stole the show for me with that Quetzalcoatl look and his vibe is so different from the usual vampires. Seeing Richter lose his mom like that was brutal, and I think she could have won that fight if she didn't have to worry about him being right there
Julia pushing Richter out of the way broke me and it makes me wonder if she could have actually beaten Olrox if she had stayed focused on the fight instead of protecting him
hearing Mozart playing during the revolution scenes was a nice touch and it fit the setting perfectly while the characters were planning their next moves against the aristocrats
olrox has such a cool demon form and he looked just like a giant bird snake thing plus that line about not killing richter yet was so threatening and I am definitely watching more of this
you can tell the animation looks a bit stiff in some of these fight scenes and it really takes away from the feeling of the show when the characters move like that and feel disconnected from the background
