Ninja Bugei-chou Pilot Film

📖 SYNOPSIS

The "Ninja Bugei-chou" pilot film was conceived in 1969 by director Nagisa Ooshima, who aimed to create a TV animation based on his controversial 1967 film. The project was intended to build upon the themes and ideas presented in the earlier work. However, the pilot film was ultimately rejected by Shirato, the creator of the original comic the film was based on. This rejection led to a change in plans. Instead of "Ninja Bugei-chou," the animation team decided to produce "Ninpuu Kamui Gaiden," a side story to Shirato's "Kamui Den" manga. Despite the shift in focus, Ooshima did not participate in the production of "Ninpuu Kamui Gaiden." The pilot film itself was not released to the public until decades later, appearing on a Ninpuu Kamui Gaiden DVD.
