Nightmare Campus
Oshimeter
Synopsis
While on an archaeological expedition in the Himalayas, college student Masao Sera wanders into a temple and witnesses something he absolutely should not have seen — a blood ritual meant to crack open the Gates of Hell. He comes back to campus, and things there have already started going sideways. Gang violence has become routine, students are turning on each other, and then some of them start developing powers that have no business existing in the real world. The campus stops feeling like a college and starts feeling like a battleground for something much older and uglier than anyone there can handle. Masao's trying to piece together what he saw in that temple and what it has to do with what's unraveling around him, and the answers are not comforting. The 1994 animation gives it a gritty, shadowy texture that actually works for the horror atmosphere — this is not a polished modern production, and that rawness fits. If you've watched La Blue Girl or Demon Beast Invasion and you're into that era of dark supernatural horror OVAs where demons and human ugliness get tangled together, this sits in the same territory. Bible Black fans will recognize the escalating dread. It's a five-episode OVA that wastes no time establishing that the world here is genuinely dangerous and getting worse. Dark, grim, and rooted in that specific 90s horror anime sensibility.
