The ending felt abrupt because of how they decided to wrap it up with a beach episode. That said, I'm glad they didn't turn this into a full blown H adaptation, given what the original source material is for this show.
Chocola and Vanilla in parent mode was sweet. Seeing Cacao slowly gain trust in others is heartwarming, she is still a little kitten after all. Wholesome episode.
Cacao is such a good kitten, there's a high chance she can pass that exam with flying colors. She's very agile too. We get some worldbuilding on how catgirls can coexist into human society this episode.
Maple character development episode and it landed okay. Cinnamon actually getting serious for once, didn't expect that. Coconut screaming in the drop tower was funny. And the singing part was nice.
Sweet Home Alabama. Never scare your catgirls like that, Shigure. Coconut really should have put on bug spray before going, rookie mistake. And Cinnamon remains extremely sus this episode.
Vanilla fanservice this episode was unhinged. And cinnamon being perpetually wet is so silly. What exactly did she wish for?
The biggest duel in history - Coconut vs Azuki, tail wrestling edition. That ball offhandedly bouncing on cinnamon's chest made me lose it. And coconut at the end was cute.
Cacao was such a brave little kitty this episode. Even if they have the ability to talk, these catgirls function with the intelligence of a regular house cat and they cause chaos with no awareness at all. Their feline brain is very much running the show.
IS THIS WORTH WATCHING? Here are my points to consider Do you want an adorable slice-of-life anime about cat girls? Then this anime might be the one you are looking for. If you're looking for a palate cleanser anime, this series is also a good option. The characters in this anime are not explored in great depth. There is a lack of context in terms of the story. You have played the OG source and want to see a faithful adaptation of the story? Sorry to disappoint but that doesn't happen here. However, this series does feature an anime-original character who does not appear in the OG source material. There are light fan service in this anime.
There is something is clearly wrong with cinnamon, she needs to be fixed. Cacao is such a cutie and she has a nice hat that adds to her charm. Her startled reaction when the mixing bowl fell was adorable. It's good to know this series has some substance and isn't just pure fanservice at least.
A beach episode for the final episode. Although the theme itself is rather cliché, I think it was still a fun choice and was executed well enough to serve as an enjoyable conclusion to the series. Are all the girls cute? Does Shigure have a field day? Is there fan service? You'll have to watch the episode to find out 😉 Overall, this anime serves as an excellent palate cleanser for anyone looking to take a break from intense action, mystery or gore-filled series. The soundtrack complements each episode's atmosphere well and although the animation isn't particularly remarkable, it fits the series well and is more than adequate for a lighthearted slice-of-life anime centered around cat girls.
I think this was a good second-to-last episode, as it shows how Cacao expresses her appreciation toward the people who have changed her life in her own way. The buildup to the heartwarming scene at the end was well executed. That said, I think the moment would have been even more meaningful if Cacao had included everyone instead of focusing mainly on Chocola and Vanilla. Still, it's understandable, since they're the ones she spends the most time with throughout the series. P.S. I bet Shigure would collapse if she was also given a present made by Cacao 😆
This is an entertaining episode about Chocola and Vanilla's bell renewal. It expands on the concept of bells introduced in the first episode, giving viewers a deeper understanding of just how challenging the process of obtaining one really is. As Chocola and Vanilla prepare for the renewal with everyone's help, the training sequences are enjoyable to watch and filled with funny and charming moments. Seeing Cacao join the training makes the episode even more wholesome.
An episode featuring Maple and Cinnamon. Not only does it explore their backstory, but it also tells a genuinely engaging story that makes the episode even more enjoyable. Maple takes the lead in this episode, and although everyone lends her a hand, I think Cinnamon deserves special credit for giving Maple the push she needed. The episode beautifully showcases how Cinnamon complements Maple, both in their relationship within the anime and in the way their names reflect a classic food pairing.
This episode takes on a somewhat mystery-like approach centered around Shigure. I have mixed feelings about it, as the conclusion felt rather ridiculous due to my familiarity with her character. However, when considering the perspective of an anime-only viewer, the experience may feel completely different 🤔. Since the episode focuses on Shigure, it also reveals some information about her character, though most of it was not particularly surprising to me considering I have played the OG source.
As the Minazuki household's cat girls are forced to stay indoors due to the storm, the episode explores how they pass the time through storytelling. While the first story begins as a straightforward narrative, it gradually transforms into something more humorous and unique as each character adds their own personal touch and interpretation. It wasn't that great of an episode and I was able to foresee what would happen at the end, as the outcome was somewhat predictable.
