Teacher's Pet
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Haruhiko's new gig as a substitute art teacher at an all-girls school would already be complicated enough — but it gets messier. One of his students, Chitose, is the younger sister of his ex-girlfriend, and she's not exactly keeping her feelings at a professional distance. What starts as an awkward teaching assignment slowly pulls both of them into territory that neither can easily walk back from. The two-episode OVA from 1999 leans into the forbidden dynamic with more character grounding than you'd expect, giving Haruhiko and Chitose actual history and emotional weight to work with rather than jumping straight past any setup. There's a real tension between where things are going and the reasons they probably shouldn't — the sister connection especially adds a layer that keeps things from feeling disposable. Studio Arms handles the production, and the direction comes from Kan Fukamoto, who also worked on La Blue Girl, so there's a recognizable sensibility here if you've seen that. If you've explored older titles like Cream Lemon and appreciated when the genre took time to build something before getting to the point, this scratches a similar itch. It's short, it's from a visual novel source, and it doesn't overstay its welcome. Manage your expectations for late-90s production values, but the character dynamic is genuinely the reason to give it a look.
