Muma no Machi Cornelica
Oshimeter
Synopsis
In Cornelica, a town literally populated by succubi — demon women who drain men of their life force — Aru has managed to survive this long because his succubus companion Lily has been keeping the others at bay, which is a full-time job when your entire neighborhood wants to siphon your soul. It's a strange domestic arrangement, but it works, until it doesn't. When Aru visits the local church for help, the head priestess Hakura hands him a mysterious drug with some very unorthodox instructions for how to recover. Then a tavern accident pulls him into the orbit of the owner Rosary and her assistant Arune, and suddenly Aru's calendar is very, very full. The whole thing is adapted from a visual novel and produced by Majin as a 4-episode OVA from 2018, so it's short and doesn't overstay its welcome. The setting has genuine atmosphere — Cornelica feels like a lived-in supernatural world rather than just a backdrop — and the power dynamics between Aru and the succubi around him give it some actual tension underneath the obvious appeal. If you've watched Kyonyuu Fantasy or Tiny Evil and wanted something with a bit more world-building holding it together, this scratches that itch. Fans of Kuroinu will recognize the vibe, though Cornelica leans more into its mythology than pure darkness. Go in knowing exactly what it is.
