Mugoku no Kuni no Alice
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Alone in a strange room, quiet, anxious, with no memory of how she got there, Alice has no idea where her sister is. That search for her sister becomes the whole driving force, but the path forward is lined with bizarre creatures and traps that feel genuinely threatening. The world she's stumbled into has a warped, Alice in Wonderland quality, except the strangeness here leans uncomfortable rather than whimsical. A white rabbit kicks things off, and the encounters that follow make it clear this isn't a cozy fantasy adventure. The tone is tense and unsettling, with survival mechanics baked into the premise, every wrong move carries real consequences for Alice. This is a 2-episode OVA from studio Majin, adapted from a game, and it keeps things focused rather than sprawling. If you've seen Imawa no Kuni no Alice and liked the survival-horror edge of characters navigating deadly games, there's a familiar energy here. Fans of darker takes on the classic Fushigi no Kuni no Alice aesthetic will also recognize the DNA, though Mugoku no Kuni no Alice goes somewhere distinctly more explicit and mature. It's a hentai title, so that's worth knowing upfront, the content gets graphic and the scenarios are not subtle about it. If that's the kind of dark, tension-heavy OVA you're looking for, the atmosphere and the mystery of Alice's situation do enough work to keep it engaging across both episodes.

i thought tachibanakan was short but this took it to another level and i barely saw anything happen before it ended
the brother being there ruined the whole vibe and he did not even need to be in the scene
those twins really just spent the whole time talking about their brother, it would be better to see some actual plot or even just fanservice instead
that was way too short and there was no point to anything happening on the screen
i blinked and it was over and i am actually mad that the credits were longer than the actual episode
Alice having such a soft voice makes the ending with the rabbit even more jarring, and the whole scene was just uncomfortable to sit through
Those shadow creatures in the background of the hallways looked so gross and they really nailed the feeling of being trapped in a bad dream
That white rabbit is genuinely creepy and the way it moves across the screen during the ending scene makes the whole situation feel completely hopeless
I was so uncomfortable when Alice got thrown into that brutal environment the second she stepped out because she was just acting so innocent before
I played the original game so I knew things were going to get messy, but seeing Alice wander into that first trap still made me wince. The atmosphere in that dark room is actually really thick, and her crying out for her sister while being cornered by the rabbit was a lot to handle for a first episode
Choosing which way to go created so much tension and you really feel the weight of those stakes since Alice is so fragile
You can really see how much Alice misses her sister and it makes seeing her struggle through those weird hallways even harder to watch
I really felt bad for Alice when that white rabbit showed up and things went south immediately because she looked so lost without her sister
Watching that first trap catch her off guard was actually pretty scary and the music made the whole room feel way more claustrophobic
The white rabbit showing up at the end was such a trip and the animation during that fluid scene was way more detailed than I thought it would be
focusing so much on the search for the sister makes the scary stuff feel worse, since she is only there because she wants to find her family
my stomach turned when Alice tripped and the screen went dark because I knew exactly what those monsters were about to do to her
you can tell this is going for something way darker than the usual wonderland story because of how the rabbit acts when he finds her
seeing Alice wake up in that creepy room alone was enough to make you feel bad for her right away and the traps are actually brutal
I did not think the white rabbit was going to be that scary and the way he treated Alice when he caught her was totally messed up
