Mouse Doubutsuen
Oshimeter
Synopsis
A single plucky, charismatic mouse has the daunting job of running the whole zoo. That's basically the whole premise, and honestly, that's all it needs to be. Mouse Doubutsuen is a short comedy movie from Pollyanna Graphics where every staff member at this zoo is an anthropomorphic animal with their own quirky personality, and the humor comes from watching them try to keep things running smoothly while being, well, animals. The mouse in charge is doing their best to make sure visitors have a good time, but when your coworkers include the full spectrum of the animal kingdom, "normal day at work" isn't really on the table. It's lightweight, family-friendly, and doesn't ask much of you — just sit back and let the goofy character interactions do their thing. The anthropomorphic cast gives it a similar vibe to oddball shorts like Gerotan or Ankoku Kazoku Warabi-san, where the appeal is less about plot and more about the charm of watching weird little characters bounce off each other. If you liked the gentle absurdity of something like Erico, this hits a comparable note. It's a quick watch, probably best suited for when you want something low-stakes and comedic without committing to a full series. Not every anime needs to be an epic — sometimes a mouse managing a zoo full of cartoon animals is exactly the right speed.
