For what it's worth, for now, at least there is some goal they're pursuing. I'll give it a chance and see if I can connect with the characters on screen - right now we're riding a wave of sadness that is pretty meaningless and a lot of it is still very much vague, including random fights out of nowhere with random monsters that come outta nowhere. So, yeah.
