Master Zhong

Synopsis
A god who hunts demons, Zhong Kui wakes up in the mortal world with no memory of any of that, just a human body and a vague sense that something is very wrong. He takes the name Mu Tian Ran and starts piecing together who he is, which is harder than it sounds when the supernatural keeps showing up to remind him that his past is catching up to him. Along the way he picks up two unlikely partners: Yang Ren Zhi, a no-nonsense demon hunter, and Ling Xi, a sacred maiden from the demon tribe — which makes for a pretty complicated team dynamic when your whole job is fighting demons. Together the three of them start unraveling what feels like a much bigger threat lurking beneath individual cases. The movie pulls heavily from Chinese mythology, so if you're used to Japanese folklore through anime like Noragami or Blue Exorcist, this covers similar territory with a distinct cultural flavor that feels fresh. The action has the weight and visual intensity of Demon Slayer, but the story is more grounded in questions of identity and what side of a conflict you actually belong on. It's a 2026 film from studio HOTALL, so production quality looks sharp. If you want supernatural action that has some genuine lore behind it rather than just cool fight scenes, this one is worth your time.
