Marginal Prince
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Nestled on a remote island in the middle of nowhere, St. Alphonse Academy is an all-male boarding school where the student body is made up of sons from powerful and distinguished families worldwide — and it's where Yuuta arrives as a transfer student. The curriculum covers things like alchemy and empire studies — not your typical high school fare — and students who complete their time there earn the title of 'Marginal Prince.' Yuuta arrives as the outsider and slowly finds his footing among a cast of very distinct personalities: the composed Alfred, the charming Henri, and several others who each carry their own complicated histories. The show leans into the school-life atmosphere with a genuine sense of warmth between characters, and there's an unexpected musical element woven through the series where characters express themselves through song — which either charms you immediately or takes some getting used to. It's adapted from a dating sim for girls, so if you've played or watched anything in that space, you'll recognize the structure: multiple character routes, each guy getting their moment, slow-burn emotional beats. If you liked Gakuen Heaven or Uta no Prince-sama, this sits in that same corner of the genre. It's a 13-episode TV series from 2006, so the production is of its era, but the character dynamics hold up well enough. Low-stakes, character-driven, with just enough intrigue around the school's traditions to keep things moving.
