The gap between her image and her inner life is the whole engine of this show. Her neighbor happens to be Seiichi, a writer who works in the erotic fiction space, which means when their worlds inevitably collide, the setup lands exactly where you'd expect it to. What makes this 4-episode OVA worth a look beyond the obvious is that it actually leans into the psychology of the thing — the tension between Maki's curated public persona and what she's quietly obsessing over feels intentional, not just decorative. The animation from Collaboration Works holds up, and the pacing gives the character dynamics room to breathe rather than rushing past them. If you've watched something like Bible Black and appreciated when adult anime takes its premise seriously, or if Shoujo Sect's character-focused approach worked for you, this sits in similar territory. It's not reinventing anything, but it's doing what it sets out to do with more attention to character than you might expect from the genre.
