Major S1 Arc Review

This series slaps hard, both in terms of story and emotional impact. What’s unique about this series is how realistic it is. It’s so realistic that the development sometimes pisses me off, but the way the story is portrayed instantly makes me feel better. To be honest, this is somehow tough to watch—not because the story is poorly written, but because of how emotionally stirring it is. But if you were to ask me whether I’d prefer not having experienced it, I’d strongly say NO! The twists in this series are what make it great.

Craftsmanship-wise, it’s actually amazing given how old it is. While I have to admit that the visuals are pretty bad (it’s old-school, so it’s understandable), the animation is actually super solid. The subtle details, especially during poses, are absolutely amazing.

Overall, I’d rate this series a 9/10! Definitely one of the best sports anime out there.
