Magic Woman M
Oshimeter
Synopsis
During her magical training, a young sorceress named Meruru gets lost in the forest, and things go sideways pretty fast. What starts as a straightforward fantasy setup — girl with powers, dense woods, mysterious creatures — quickly becomes something more explicit. This is a hentai OVA, so be clear-eyed about what you're getting into before hitting play. The hook that sets it apart from similar titles is the power system: Meruru's magic doesn't activate through willpower or discipline. Instead, arousal is literally the trigger for her most explosive abilities. It's a weird mechanic, but it gives the two-episode story a consistent internal logic that holds the fantasy framing together rather than letting it dissolve into pure spectacle. The 1997 animation carries that distinctive late-90s aesthetic — rough around the edges by modern standards, but it has a grounded, hand-drawn texture that fans of the era tend to appreciate. The soundtrack leans into the fantasy atmosphere more than you'd expect from something this short. If you've watched La Blue Girl or Bible Black and you're looking for something in that same late-90s magical girl-meets-adult-fantasy vein, Meruru fits comfortably in that company. It's adapted from manga, which gives the story slightly more structure than typical one-off OVAs from the period. Two episodes, modest runtime, does exactly what it sets out to do without overstaying its welcome.
