A fantastic, nostalgic slice of 80s sci-fi cosmic horror. While it heavily borrows its plot from Hollywood classics like Alien and The Thing, it translates those concepts beautifully into the anime medium. The monster designs by Yoshitaka Amano are delightfully gruesome, and the visual atmosphere is top-tier. It gets a bit crowded with too many subplots toward the end, but at a crisp 67 minutes, it’s an absolute blast for retro anime fans.
