Fusing people with machines and splicing animal DNA into humans seemed like a good idea to someone, and it brought civilization crashing down. Now humanity's split into two factions — the Machines, who are basically cyborgs, and the Beast Spirits, people carrying animal genes. Caught in the middle is Shi Heitong, a cyborg assassin who's about as warm and fuzzy as a rusty blade.
