Kussetsu
Oshimeter
Synopsis
On the surface, his life looks comfortable — close family, good friends, nothing obviously wrong. Then his best friend decides to burn it all down. Not out of nowhere, but with calculated, deliberate malice. Envy has been building for a while, and when it finally cracks, it cracks ugly. The friend starts working his way through the people closest to the protagonist — his stepmother, his stepsisters, the girls around him — using manipulation, deception, and exploitation to peel everything away layer by layer. What makes Kussetsu hit differently from similar titles is that it leans into the psychological side of that betrayal. This isn't just shock value for its own sake. There's a real tension in watching someone you trusted become the architect of your unraveling, and the show sits with that discomfort longer than you'd expect from a 3-episode OVA. The animation from AIC holds up well and matches the dark, suffocating tone the story is going for. If you've watched Shinyuu no Onna or Netorare Jukujo: Shiroi Kyouen and wanted something with a bit more plot threading through the chaos, this scratches that itch. Fans of Kansen: Inyoku no Rensa will also recognize that same slow-burn dread building under the surface. It's adapted from a Candy House visual novel, so the character dynamics feel layered rather than throwaway. Dark, tense, and more narrative-driven than the runtime suggests.
