Kowaremono - Fragile Hearts
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Designed to harvest genetic material, an android maid gets rescued from the scrapheap by an eccentric professor — and then he straps a bracelet on her and tells her to go save the world. That's the actual setup of Kowaremono II, a 2-episode OVA from 2001 that leans hard into the campy sci-fi hentai tradition of the era. Aki is the android in question, and she's an oddly compelling lead for what this is: someone who exists purely as a tool, now being handed a completely different purpose without much say in the matter. The professor's lab scenes have a goofy mad-scientist energy, and when giant robots start causing trouble, the show shifts into a tokusatsu-flavored action mode that sits awkwardly and entertainingly alongside the adult content. It doesn't take itself seriously, which is probably the right call given the premise. The tone bounces between low-budget action parody and straightforward hentai, sometimes in the same scene. If you've seen La Blue Girl or Cream Lemon, you know the genre — female protagonist with special abilities, adult content woven into sci-fi chaos, production values that reflect the time period. Kowaremono II fits squarely in that lineage. It's short enough that the premise doesn't overstay its welcome, and there's something genuinely strange about watching an android grapple with identity while also fighting robots. Niche, dated, but weirdly earnest about its own absurd concept.
