Synopsis

A pair of bright-eyed performers chasing their dream as the duo 'Stellarista' sounds wholesome enough, right? Yeah, not here. Kegareboshi is a 2025 OVA from Studio T-Rex adapted from a manga, and it wastes zero time pulling back the curtain on the ugliest side of the idol industry. Ibuki Asaba and Koharu Shirasaki are riding high after a successful concert, celebrating with their manager Matsunami. But when Ibuki stumbles onto a scandal between Koharu and their manager, she tries to get ahead of it by confronting a weekly magazine's office — only to get drugged and pulled deeper into the schemes of a manipulative producer named Kurozuka. What starts as ambition and bright stage lights quickly spirals into exploitation and control, and the story doesn't shy away from showing exactly how that plays out. The character designs are detailed and expressive, which honestly makes the darker turns hit harder. There's a real contrast between the glamorous idol surface and what's happening underneath, and the soundtrack leans into both sides — polished performances one moment, tension the next. If you've watched things like Taimanin Asagi or Bible Black and you're into that intersection of narrative and explicit content, this one's got a similar energy but with a more grounded premise. Fans of Mahou Shoujo Ai might also find the corruption angle familiar. It's dark, it's provocative, and it knows exactly what it's doing with its idol industry setting.
