Kansen 2: Inzai Toshi
Oshimeter
Synopsis
When a mysterious virus tears through a city, it turns everyone around you into a frenzied, mindless threat. That's where Hiroshi Ookura and his group find themselves in this 2-episode OVA from Suzuki Mirano — stranded in a contaminated urban wreck with infected, frenzied people closing in from every direction. Their best option is a shopping mall that's mostly still standing, which sounds reasonable until you realize 'mostly intact' and 'safe' are very different things. The tension here comes from the claustrophobic setup — nowhere to run, no clear answers about the virus, and a group of people under extreme pressure trying to hold it together. Kansen 2 leans into the psychological weight of a total societal collapse, not just the physical danger. It's less about action and more about what happens to people when the world outside stops making sense. If you've already seen Kansen: Inyoku no Rensa, this one runs parallel to those events rather than continuing them, so the two complement each other without one spoiling the other. Fans of Kansen 3: Shuto Houkai or Kansen 5: The Daybreak will recognize the same bleak atmosphere and survival-horror framing that carries through the whole series. Going in knowing it's adapted from a visual novel helps — the pacing reflects that slower, character-focused origin rather than a straight-up action horror ride.
