Kanojo ga Mimai ni Konai Wake
Oshimeter
Synopsis
A marriage proposal is quietly taking shape in Seiji's mind when a car accident snaps his leg and lands him in the hospital. Ai promises to visit every day. That promise is where things start to get complicated. The hospital fills up fast with people who all seem to pull Seiji in different directions: the guy who hit him with his car, a roommate sharing his ward, the doctor overseeing his recovery, a coworker from his job, and a nurse who turns out to be his ex. That last one alone is enough awkward tension to carry a story. As Seiji's stay drags on, the distance between him and Ai — emotional more than physical — starts to show cracks that neither of them really saw coming. This is a 3-episode OVA from 2010 adapted from a visual novel, so it moves quickly and leans into adult drama without much hesitation. The hospital setting works well as a pressure cooker — people stuck together, bored, stressed, and making choices they probably wouldn't make otherwise. If you liked the relationship tension in Kimi ga Nozomu Eien or the emotional messiness of Yosuga no Sora, this scratches a similar itch. It is not a feel-good romance, and it doesn't try to be. It's more interested in showing how easily a relationship shifts when circumstances change and new people show up.
