Junk Story: Tetsukuzu Monogatari
Oshimeter
Synopsis
In a grimy, machine-saturated future where the line between person and hardware has gotten genuinely hard to find, bounty hunter Mariko O'Brian is just trying to survive. When she crosses paths with a heavily equipped cyborg, what starts as a professional encounter turns into something more complicated — a relationship that makes her rethink what she actually owes to things that might or might not count as people. It's a short OVA, just one episode, so the story moves fast and doesn't waste time on setup. You get the dystopian world-building, the action, and the uncomfortable questions all at once. The cyberpunk aesthetic leans into the gritty, worn-down side of the genre — think less neon paradise and more rusted metal and bad decisions. If you've ever watched Ghost in the Shell and wanted something rawer and less philosophical, or if you liked the human-machine tension in Battle Angel Alita, this scratches a similar itch in a much shorter runtime. Fair warning: it carries a hentai tag, so the content goes beyond just action. That's worth knowing going in. As a piece of late-90s cyberpunk animation with a bounty hunter lead and some genuine thematic weight underneath the surface, it's a curiosity worth an hour of your time if the genre is already your thing.
