Synopsis
Meet Tsuneo Suzukawa, a college kid with a dream to study marine biology abroad and about four part-time jobs standing between him and that goal. Then one night he literally stumbles into Josee, a sharp-tongued young woman in a wheelchair who'd rather be called by her literary nickname than her real name. Her grandmother offers Tsuneo paid work as Josee's caretaker, and since he needs the money, he takes it. What starts as a transactional arrangement slowly becomes something neither of them expected. Josee has spent most of her life indoors, experiencing the world through books and paintings. Tsuneo, always chasing the ocean, starts showing her the world outside her door. And somewhere along the way, she starts pushing him too, toward the things he's been putting off or afraid to reach for. It's a movie about two people who genuinely make each other braver, and it earns every emotional beat without feeling manipulative. Studio Bones brings gorgeous animation to the whole thing, and Evan Call's soundtrack hits in all the quiet, aching moments. If you've been wrecked by I Want to Eat Your Pancreas or A Silent Voice, this lives in that same space: romantic, tender, and honest about how hard it is to let someone into your life when you've built walls around it. Film yang sangat bagus sekali untuk ditonton! Plot cerita dan premisnya kuat dan unik. Penceritaan dan alurnya juga sangat rapi sehingga bisa membuatku tidak bisa lepas dari layar sedetik pun. Benar-benar tidak memberikan rasa bosan sama sekali. Pace-nya juga pas, tidak cepat juga tidak lambat. Tidak ada adegan romantis yang berlebihan, semuanya terasa pas dan indah. Aku suka dengan konflik di pertengahan cerita yang sangat realistis dan tidak terkesan dibuat-buat. Dua karakter utama, Josee dan Tsuneo, mendapatkan perkembangan karakter yang seimbang. Pokoknya film ini harus ditonton setidaknya sekali seumur hidup.
This movie hit me in a way I didn't think it would hit. The main characters are well written, the soundtrack is magnificent, the animation is great but on top of it all, the story felt good and the pacing did not feel fast for a movie.
THE BEST ROMANCE ANIME MOVIE EVER.
Josee craves freedom. Tsuneo thinks he understands until calamity happens taking away his dream. Only then does sympathy become real. The film's truth is you can't understand another's pain without stepping into their world. And selflessness requires courage, not guilt.
Found this movie to be a deeply rewarding experience that left me feeling hopeful and moved. I see Josee as a multidimensional character. I loved that she wasn't just a figure of pity but someone with a sharp tongue who even bit Tsuneo during their first encounter.

This is an absolutely beautiful anime both in story and visuals! As a physically disabled person I felt like this anime perfectly captured the longing and heartache that comes with it. Tsuneo and Josee's relationship has its challenges but it's so sweet to see them work through it! I cried watching it because it felt so real and raw. Definitely worth the watch and even though I don't tend to watch romance animes super often I really enjoyed it
A heartwarming movie with a very nice storyline. The animation in this one is so stunning! I especially love the beach scene! The colors there are beautiful. This is definitely a must watch whether it be by yourself or with people you want to share this movie with.
