Inyouchuu The Animation
Oshimeter
Synopsis
What happens when a side gig goes catastrophically wrong? An unusual monster hunting assignment brings three students to an isolated island to investigate missing jellyfish from an aquarium. What starts as a strange but low-stakes assignment turns into something much darker when tentacled demons start showing up and the trio finds themselves trapped with no easy way out. Mikoto, Yamato, and Sui are part of an agency called Monster Busters, and the OVA leans into that supernatural exorcism angle with a creepy island setting that keeps the atmosphere consistently unsettling. The eerie mood is one of its stronger qualities — the remote location, the weird demonic creatures, and the sense that these three are in over their heads all work together. It's based on a visual novel, so there's a bit more internal logic to the demon-fighting mechanics than you'd expect from something this short. At just two episodes, it doesn't overstay its welcome. If you've seen Urotsukidōji or La Blue Girl and you're familiar with the older supernatural horror end of this genre, Inyouchuu fits right into that tradition — tentacle horror with a supernatural adventure framing around it. It's from 2006, so the production reflects that era. Going in knowing what it is will serve you better than going in cold. It's a niche OVA with a specific audience in mind, and if that audience is you, it delivers exactly what it's promising.
