tellu★★☆☆☆EP 1The character models looked wonky in some shots and the voice acting for the guy was distracting
At the center of this two-episode OVA sits Yayoi Takatsuki, a high school girl navigating a complicated dynamic with her brother Ryousuke, and the story doesn't shy away from exactly how complicated that gets. Based on the doujinshi by Kaisei Kishi, Imakara Atashi is a short, adult-oriented adaptation that leans fully into the taboo territory of its source material. The setup is intimate, the pacing is slow and deliberate, and the focus stays tight on the two siblings throughout. There's no sprawling cast or plot detours: just the two of them and the tension between them. BreakBottle put visible effort into the character designs and animation quality, which holds up better than a lot of comparable releases from that era. Each episode runs about 19 minutes, so the whole thing is under 40 minutes combined, not a big time commitment. If you've watched something like Aneki My Sweet Elder Sister or Oni Chichi and you know what you're getting into with that subgenre, this fits comfortably in that space. The tone is more grounded and less exaggerated than Oni Chichi, closer in feel to something character-focused rather than purely scenario-driven. Going in knowing it's a hentai OVA adapted from a fairly niche doujinshi sets the right expectations. It's not trying to be anything beyond what it is, and for fans of Kaisei Kishi's original work, the adaptation is faithful enough to be worth checking out.
tellu★★☆☆☆EP 1The character models looked wonky in some shots and the voice acting for the guy was distracting
hitsugaya_hyoton★★★★☆EP 1Watching this specific Kaisei Kishi work get an adaptation made me really happy because the art in the original doujin was some of my favorite and the studio did a great job translating those designs to animation without losing the details that make the characters look unique and the pacing felt right for a one shot story like this one
maria_campbell★★★☆☆EP 1The animation was surprisingly smooth during the main scenes, and it was cool how they kept the original art style from the doujin.
bizzo_senpai★★☆☆☆EP 1I think the story moved way too fast but the voice acting for the girl was pretty decent
atticus_358★★★★☆EP 1You can really tell the artist worked hard on the lead character because she looks just like the source material
giovanni★★★☆☆EP 1the background music stayed quiet during the most important parts and that silence made the dialogue between the siblings feel way heavier
loveablepanda101★★★☆☆EP 1that specific scene in the hallway looked better than most full seasonal shows and the studio clearly put some real effort into the character movement
fukase_firefly★★★☆☆EP 1ryousuke needs to get his act together but watching him struggle with his feelings for yayoi was actually the most interesting part of the whole thing
sailor_mercury_394★★★☆☆EP 1the way the animation shifts during the more adult moments is surprisingly smooth, and it makes the whole sibling dynamic feel even more grounded than the original source material
itachi_illusion★★★☆☆EP 1seeing the way yayoi looks at her brother at the end of the episode was a lot more impactful than the black and white panels in the book
geordo_stuart★★★★☆EP 1i really liked the way they colored the scenes in the bedroom because the lighting made everything feel much more private and intense
ai_hayasaka★★★★☆EP 1it is pretty rare to see a doujinshi get an adaptation that actually captures the original artist's weirdly soft line work, but this first episode really nailed it for me and the way yayoi interacts with ryousuke feels just as uncomfortable and intimate as it did on the page and the voice acting actually adds a lot to that specific atmosphere
daemon_coder★★★★☆EP 1i felt so awkward watching ryousuke and yayoi in that tiny room together because the tension was way too high
reshiram_310★★★★☆EP 1the character designs look exactly like kaisei kishi drew them and the line work is surprisingly clean for a short ova
tokay★★★☆☆EP 1fans of the original doujinshi will be happy with how they kept the specific art style intact and did not cut out the best parts of the first chapter
breemx1★★★★☆EP 1The studio actually put some effort into the character expressions, and it makes the whole taboo situation with Yayoi feel much more personal than most stuff in this genre
ruby★★★★☆EP 1That moment Ryousuke realizes what his sister is asking him is so awkward and intense and the show captures that psychological pressure perfectly
diana_376★★★★☆EP 1I stayed for the art style because the way they drew Yayoi is exactly how I remembered it from the source material and it looks really clean
almighty_yhwach★★★★☆EP 1Character designs from the original doujinshi coming to life like this was cool since the animation quality held up better than those other low budget releases
nunnally_lamperouge_174★★★☆☆EP 1The scene where Yayoi just comes out and says she wants her brother to be her first was heavy and the tension was just crazy
