I Shouldn't Have Gone To The Doujinshi Convention Without Telling My Wife
Oshimeter
Synopsis
What he's hiding isn't an affair, isn't a gambling debt — just a deeply inconvenient hobby. He collects doujinshi, the kind of fan-made comics you find at crowded convention floors, and he's been sneaking off to these events without telling his wife Yumi. Not because he's ashamed, exactly, but because explaining otaku culture to a skeptical spouse is a conversation he keeps putting off. When Yumi starts noticing the suspicious absences, she decides to find out for herself what her husband is actually doing. This two-episode OVA from T-Rex is a short, contained story about the weird little secrets that accumulate inside a marriage — the hobbies you hide, the assumptions you make, the conversations you avoid. It's light on its feet and grounded in something recognizable: two people who care about each other but aren't quite communicating. If you've seen Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken and liked the format of a short, comedic slice of married life, this scratches a similar itch. Fans of Netoge no Yome wa Onnanoko ja Nai to Omotta? will also find the otaku-relationship dynamics familiar territory. At only two episodes, it doesn't overstay its welcome. The premise is specific enough to feel fresh — convention culture, collector obsession, marital awkwardness — and the story wraps up in a way that actually feels complete. Worth an evening if you want something low-stakes and quietly charming.
