The villain's plan would have completely failed if someone had looked back at the most valuable object in the entire collection before leaving the room. The villain, in the end, like a true Scooby-Doo character, reveals everything and apologizes easily because he's so sorry, but not before having a card duel??? Because clearly that made perfect sense.
