chibiusa★★★★☆EP 1My skin was crawling when Sumire got cornered in the infirmary and the voice acting really sold the desperation
What begins as an ordinary morning commute becomes a nightmare for Sumire when she's molested on her way to school. Shaken and not sure who to turn to, she confides in her teacher, Takahashi, which sounds like the right move until it very much isn't. What starts as a violation on a crowded train spirals into something darker once the people who are supposed to help her become part of the problem. The school setting, the authority figures, the counselor, nothing is as safe as it should be, and that slow erosion of trust is where this OVA lives. Hitoriga: The Animation is a 4-episode dark drama from 2009, adapted from manga and produced by Office Take Off. The tone is heavy and psychological, less about shock value and more about how institutions fail people who are already vulnerable. If you've watched something like Another Lady Innocent and appreciated a narrative that actually tries to build character context before going dark places, this sits in similar territory. Fans of Girl Next Door who liked that grounded, uncomfortable realism might also find something here. It's not an easy watch, and it's not trying to be. The animation quality holds up well enough to serve the story, and Sumire is written with enough interiority that her situation feels like it matters. Don't go in expecting resolution: this is the kind of story that sits with you in an unsettling way, which is clearly the point.

chibiusa★★★★☆EP 1My skin was crawling when Sumire got cornered in the infirmary and the voice acting really sold the desperation
skull_kid★★★★☆EP 1Takahashi is such a creep, but the way they handled the office scene was surprisingly well done for a first episode
tyson_350★★☆☆☆EP 1Sumire has a really nice character design for this kind of show but the animation looked a bit dated in the background shots
izanagi_idol_15★★★★☆EP 1That train scene was a lot to take in and the art quality stayed pretty consistent throughout the whole thing
epona_265★★★☆☆EP 1I feel so bad for Sumire because she thought the teacher was going to help her and then he just made it a million times worse
tesso_titan★★★☆☆EP 1That sweet personality Masahiro has really shines through and I can tell he is struggling while trying to figure out his feelings for Kousuke
misa_misa★★★★☆EP 1Listening to the soundtrack really helped set the mood during the more emotional bits and even though the teacher student thing is a lot it feels handled well so far
soul_society_slayer_471★★★☆☆EP 1Delinquent flashbacks in the beginning were a lot but it helps you understand why Masahiro is so attached to Kousuke now
ulquiorra_uber★★★☆☆EP 1I felt pretty lost during most of this because they mashed the prequel and the main story together, which makes the relationships feel a bit sudden if you have not read the source material but the vibe is much better than other shows in this genre and the voice acting for Masahiro is actually spot on for his character
otomachine_oto_497★★★★☆EP 1Masahiro trying to get away from those delinquents made him look so vulnerable and Kousuke showing up like that was such a huge moment
otakuking777★★★☆☆EP 1The way the episode starts out makes the diagnosis title feel a bit confusing but the music during those interactions was great and the potential for other couples is interesting
elrena★★★☆☆EP 1That opening scene immediately lets you know what kind of show this is, and even though the relationship gap is a lot Masahiro is actually really likable so far
asuka_langley_181★★★★☆EP 1The art is decent but the linework looks a bit off in some shots and the teacher and student dynamic is going to be a lot to handle
fish_eye★★★☆☆EP 1I was so confused about the timeline and how these two already knew each other and I really hope they explain the backstory soon
baniacz★★★★☆EP 1It is interesting to see Masahiro with orange hair and then see him now and the pacing works better than the manga even if it feels a bit rushed
spike_spiegel★★☆☆☆EP 1The animation style definitely looks like it came out in 2009 and the character designs are so ugly they take you out of the story
yellow★★★★☆EP 1Sumire deserves better than being trapped in a room with a guy like that after such a rough day
midnightweeb★★★★☆EP 1Takahashi is a total monster for what he did after she trusted him with what happened on the train
waifuhunter★★★★☆EP 1The way the train scene was handled made me uncomfortable and the teacher turning out to be a creep was a huge blow to Sumire
hakudoshi★★★☆☆EP 1I felt so bad for Sumire when she went to Takahashi for help and he just made everything ten times worse
