Hit wo Nerae! Specials
Oshimeter
Synopsis
At 25 years old, TV producer Mitsuki Ikuta gets mistaken for a middle schooler everywhere she goes. That gap between how she's perceived and who she actually is drives most of the comedy in these four DVD-exclusive specials attached to the main Hit wo Nerae! series. The setting is the behind-the-scenes world of a children's tokusatsu hero show — think rubber suits, low budgets, and a crew that has strong opinions about everything except professionalism. Mitsuki has to navigate all of it while being constantly underestimated. The specials lean harder into the ecchi side than the main series, so if that's not your thing, worth knowing upfront. But the humor mostly comes from workplace dynamics and the absurdity of television production rather than anything mean-spirited. It's a small, relaxed watch — four episodes, no major setup required, light on plot and heavy on character moments between Mitsuki and the people around her. If you watched the main series and wanted more time with these characters in low-stakes situations, that's exactly what this delivers. Fans of shows like Love Love? or The Cosmopolitan Prayers who enjoy comedy built around adult women in chaotic work environments will probably find something familiar here. It is not going to change how you think about anime, but it is comfortable and consistently funny in a dry, situational way.
