Perhaps the hardest distance to cross is the one between what you feel and what you actually say. Ma-eumgwa Mal is a single animated music video for indie artist Summer's track of the same name, and it packs a surprising amount of emotional weight into its short runtime. There's no dialogue here — the whole thing plays out through soft animation, muted color palettes, and the kind of quiet character moments that hit you in the chest before you realize what happened. You follow an introspective protagonist caught in that familiar loop of wanting to reach someone but not finding the right words, and the visuals shift and breathe in sync with the music in a way that feels almost meditative. It's the kind of thing you watch once, sit with for a minute, then immediately watch again. The storytelling is entirely visual — expressions, body language, the space between two people standing close but not quite connecting. If you liked Shelter by Porter Robinson, or the gentle emotional ache in Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop, this lives in that same neighborhood. There's also a thread of Given's quiet longing running through it. It won't take much of your time, but it might linger longer than you expect.
