Synopsis
At first glance, Michiyo Hotori is just another student at her high school — until she starts noticing that the student council isn't exactly running bake sales. Behind the polished image, there's something much more controlling going on, and once Michiyo stumbles onto it, she's pulled into a conflict between the council's grip on the student body and a resistance faction trying to expose them. The power dynamics here are the real draw. It's a high school setting, but the manipulation and coercion running through it give everything a tense, uncomfortable edge that keeps you watching. Based on a manga and produced by Blue bread, this 4-episode OVA from 2022 doesn't waste time — it gets into the setup fast and leans hard into the suspense of not knowing who's really pulling the strings or whose side anyone is actually on. The character relationships are layered enough that the drama feels like it has actual weight behind it rather than just being window dressing. If you've watched Ijirare: Fukushuu Saimin and liked the way coercive power dynamics play out in those kinds of institutional settings, this scratches a similar itch. Fans of Kegareboshi or Imaizumin Chi wa Douyara Gal no Tamariba ni Natteru Rashii will also find familiar territory here in terms of tone and genre. It's a compact watch, and it commits to its premise without dragging.
