Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor

Yes, this finale felt somewhat incomplete, but admit it, it was really awesome. It's more like a season ending than anything, with a lot of loose ends that need their own resolutions. Yet overall, this was the best episode of the series and if they ever feel the need to follow-up with the story, they have a solid foundation to do so. And I'm really happy to say that the main protagonist is the highlight here, this is the coolest he's ever been since the start of the show. Also, they played out the emotional parts of the narrative really well, this is the most I felt for the cast. What an experience, this needs more attention from anime viewers. Technical wise, I see that they made more effort here in terms of animation and design, understandably, they want to finish strong. But the real meat of the matter is the engaging storyline and the extremely lovable characters. You can't just help but root for them on everything they have been through. So would I recommend this for anyone? Absolutely, it's a shame it might not have a continuation, but from where it stands, this can be your starting point for this type of genre. That was generally a thrilling experience, hoping this franchise returns in the future and receive the accolades that it rightfully deserves.

What a strange penultimate episode, this seems to be far shorter than intended. A lot of stuff occurs that need more elaboration, and the focus was more on the confrontation between a couple of side characters. Then again, it's kind of intriguing to know where it is heading, especially what is particularly happening to our main protagonist. Again, short length aside, this could have been the best arc in the series yet, but that all depends if the finale can actually pull it off. Time to see if this was worth the watch, from the start to the finish.

I did not see that coming, honestly, what an escalation of events. But if you think about it, with all those treachery going on in the evil organization, I think it's just a practical idea to just execute the plan before anything comes up again that would complicate things. As for our heroes, I think this is probably the lowest they could go, being tormented mentally and emotionally to the point of breaking, just barely hanging in there. Now this is a setup episode, but for what purpose exactly is made unclear. Yet if you have been following the series so far, you can expect some dramatic, epic moment to cap off this story right in the end. It was always like that since the beginning, so hold on tight.

And as expected, the curtain falls on one of our characters, and that was quite an emotional moment. Luckily, someone who does deserve that same treatment got his as well. Unfortunately, this is no time for celebrations as the true threat finally came for the climactic conflict of the series, and they all prove to be as powerful as they say they are. Also with that, the status of our heroes seem to unknown at this point, will Deus ex machina save them still? That's the million dollar question at this juncture, let's see how it pays off.

Well, the secret's out, yet I don't think we can say anyone has won anything yet. Sure the villain "civil war" seems over, or is it really? Apparently, more trouble is on the horizon and this time these people mean business. Circumstance suggests that all the effort of the current boss of the evil organization has been for naught. And one of our hero got his second wind after a friend made a heroic leap to save his life. This battle is shaping up to be one emotional exit for one of our characters, hope it's worth the wait.

From backstabbing and betrayals, to outright battles to the death, that's an evil organization for you. This is essentially the villains breaking apart as the struggle for dominance continues. But honestly, it's quite a sight to see some of them in these desperate situations considering how confident they were in previous episodes. On the other hand, our heroes need to make a decision that may or may not go so well in order to save themselves. Knowing how this story goes thus far, it might not bode favorably for everyone. Nonetheless we're almost there, let's see if the series has more surprises up its sleeves.

The lore cuts deep in this one; this I think is how far we can go in terms of the story. And it is quite fascinating, finally learning how our plot device came about and the reason for its existence. But even if they succeeded with the task at hand, there is still danger lurking around the corner, or worse, heading straight to where it needs not to be. Their confrontation is inevitable, considering how much they present the new foe as a threat, this might get ugly. Still, it's hard to say who would emerge victorious in the end, tuning in to find out.

Nice to see that they can make this series more grounded by putting the spotlight to the most human character among the cast. Yes, you can question why a reaction like that would be warranted in such a situation, but looking deeper, that is probably the most emphatic response you might ever get in a genre like this. It's kind of comforting to know someone cares that much. And they are going to need that, and more, as a powerful individual enters the fray. Now that the pieces are in place, the climactic battle is set, and it seems like production is stepping up as well. Time to get hyped viewers, we'll probably get more than what we hoped for.

Now this is my kind of setup episode, everything seems so ominous and mysterious. So the internal strife in the evil organization really runs deep huh? It has gotten to the point were they had people actively sabotaging them out of moral obligation. But the main focus here is the latest plot device, which might play a huge part in this final arc. How exactly, we don't know, but I guess that's part of the suspense and the show has been doing excellent in that regard. That being said, the buildup for the climax has been rock solid, definitely thrilled to see where all this is going.

As expected, one of our villains make a dramatic return, with a dose of betrayal in case you've forgotten that he is suppose to be evil still. It's the culmination of all the backstabbing that has been done in previous episodes, now everyone is gradually revealing their true colors in this conflict. With that, the stakes are now sky high as any shred of decency among the belligerents are thrown out of the window. It's all out war now and it's hard to say who would remain on top. By this time it could be anyone's game really, just hoping the series does it justice in the end.

That was a really intense way of "motivating" our hero into action. Sure it worked, but the process is surprisingly cruel even for this show's standards. But at least the main protagonist found a good measure of resolve in all these, as well as some admiration from a long time friend. Yet of course, it comes with a twist, there's really no time for reprieve isn't it? At least there is more to chew on before the climatic battle begins, let's see what happens when the eventually get there, shall we?.

This episode pretty much consolidate the lore into one exposition dump. It explains the history of the plot device and the reason why the villains are obsessively hunting them down. I kind of like that they show the mental burden of taking in such knowledge, it's not like everyone can absorb it as it is. But that's the least of their problems, as the mastermind is making a move at the time they are most vulnerable. I have to say though, the series is showing noticeable upgrades these last few outings. I think heading into the final stretch, they have been putting more effort into production from now on. This just makes it more rewarding to stick around and see what they have in store next time.

Curious turn of events, as mounting casualties starts to take its toll on our heroes. But yeah, can't help but feel sorry for that one individual in particular, his current condition will surely be a liability in the future, hope he comes out of it soon. On the other hand, the focus shifts to our newcomer, who seems to have more agency to the story than what he initially let on. These are some dire times for our characters, they have only mostly survived by clutching it. But that's the beauty of it I think, it motivates the viewers to come back to see more.

This is a really tragic episode, and one of the best from the series yet. It wasn't just the emotional weight, it's also the buildup that carried it. And right now, we can absolutely confirm that the villains of this show are undoubtedly evil. Other than that, we are also given the reveal about our hero's power which would probably play a larger role in future battles, for better or for worse. Now how all of this would affect the development of our main protagonist is up in the air. But everything points out to him not letting this slide. This will get bloody, and I'm here for it.

We get deeper into the backstory of our anti-villain, and it paints quite a grim picture. It generally explains why he acts that way and what caused him to develop that type of mentality. Other than that, this is the respite episode and the heroes need all rest they can get. But it doesn't bode well for that one individual, it seems like he's the first major character to bite it presumably. This arc has been eventful thus far, it has a lot to add to the lore. Next time though, I have feeling things will change dramatically for our cast as we move on.

It's been a while, but the spotlight finally falls on that character that has probably the most complicated background among the cast. And it's probably for the better, as this episode had our heroes clutching it more than ever against stronger foes that keep coming at them from all sides. And we also get even more reveals from our newcomers even though some of their unique "qualities" remain shrouded in mystery. The story itself serves as the strong point of the series, and it seems to be the biggest hook for the viewers. Actually excited to see where we head from here, it's quite a treat to see the narrative come together.

It went from bad to worse for our heroes, despite their best effort to avoid such scenario, that's what exactly what took place. A lot of surprising revelation this time around including one recurring character whose involvement in story is a complete mystery. And finally, that individual makes a move, all the while his allegiances remain ambiguous. It's going down the wire and we're not even halfway through, this is going to be a wild ride.

I think this is a really good setup for the next phase of the series. It starts off with the fallout from the battle last episode, with the disturbing thought about losing one's humanity as the battle keeps raging on. Fortunately, people genuinely lending support is not in short order, and we have a few heartwarming scenes for that. Unfortunately though, the villains, whom we thought were beaten last time, makes a vengeful comeback and are now more relentless than ever. And then there's the "twist." So many thing happening on this new story arc, this is going to be a lot to take on. But personally I'm hooked, great to see these thrilling developments in the story.

It looks like plotting and scheming is a terribly common occurence in the enemy ranks to no one's surprise. And so with that, a good chunk of the villain group is taken out of commission, at least for now. But not before they made the biggest lore dump in the series yet. On the other hand, our heroes got a second wind, because our plot device is much more versatile than initially thought. It's even capable of doing impossible feats, although there are some extremely disturbing ramifications involved. Now, it seems like we are moving on to another chapter from now on, doesn't mean the threat is over though. Time to take the fight to the next level.

In this episode, everyone comes back together, which is really nice to see. It would be even better if that one character joins the team. The story feels warm and fun, and I hope we get to see that character become part of the team soon.
