Gloria

Synopsis
Don't let the premise fool you — what seems like an easy gig turns out to be anything but, when George and Kira — two college guys — land positions as private tutors for the five daughters of one of Boston's wealthiest families. The Gloria family is old money, influential, and immediately a little off. Five daughters — Etana, Cecile, Naomie, Sharon, and Mary — each with their own personality, their own secrets, and their own way of pulling you into the household's strange atmosphere. What starts as a tutoring arrangement slowly reveals that something underneath this family isn't quite right. The drama creeps in naturally, and the mystery elements give it more texture than you'd expect from a 3-episode OVA from 1997. It's based on a visual novel, so the branching storyline structure carries over — different character dynamics lead to different directions, which makes rewatching feel worthwhile rather than pointless. The character writing is more focused on interpersonal tension than you'd typically get in this genre, and that's genuinely what makes it interesting. If you've watched something like Bible Black or Discipline: The Record of a Crusade and wanted the drama to feel a bit more grounded, this scratches that itch. It's short, it's atmospheric, and it leans into the mysterious family secret angle more than you'd expect. Don't go in expecting a slow-burn thriller, but the blend of adult content with actual narrative tension makes it a curious watch for fans of that era's adult OVA format.
