Geobreeders: Breakthrough
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Hunting Phantom Cats — supernatural entities that can possess technology and wreak havoc across modern Japan — is the specialty of Kagura Total Security Inc., a private security firm staffed almost entirely by women and unlike any other. Their one male employee, Yoichi Taba, gets dragged along for every chaotic operation whether he's ready or not. In this four-episode OVA follow-up, the team is dealing with a coordinated gang of Phantom Cats, a shadowy assassin with unclear motives, and a government that keeps getting in their way. On top of that, they need a new office. Priorities. The tone here is pretty loose and comedic — the girls are competent, heavily armed, and constantly bickering, while Taba ping-pongs between genuinely useful and completely overwhelmed. The action sequences are punchy and the humor lands naturally through character dynamics rather than forced gags. Kotaro Nakagawa's soundtrack gives the whole thing more energy than you'd expect from a late-90s OVA setup. If you watched Burn-Up W and enjoyed the mix of capable women, light sci-fi, and action comedy, this scratches a similar itch. Fans of Ghost Sweeper Mikami will also recognize the rhythm — supernatural threats treated as a day job, with the drama and comedy sharing equal space. It's not reinventing anything, but as a breezy four-episode run with genuine charm and solid action, it's an easy watch for anyone who liked the first Geobreeders or just wants something fun from that era.
