Fat, smelly, and constantly bullied — Futoshi Satou is basically the kid everyone ignores or picks on. Then his eccentric inventor father mails him a cell phone that can hypnotize anyone who looks at it. He tests it on his neighbor Sayuri, it works, and suddenly the social order of his entire school is up for grabs. That's the setup for Gakuen Saimin Reido, a 3-episode OVA from 2010 adapted from a visual novel. The hypnosis angle is the real hook here — it's not just a gimmick. The series leans into the psychology of control and what someone does with sudden power after years of being powerless. Futoshi isn't a clean protagonist, and the show doesn't pretend otherwise. The characters he encounters — Yuna, Nagisa, Himeno, Kaoruko — each bring different dynamics into that power struggle, and it keeps things from feeling one-note. If you've watched Kansen: Inyoku no Rensa or Shin Ringetsu and appreciated how those series built tension through manipulation and shifting control, this sits in similar territory. Fans of Kuroinu who like their adult anime with an actual plot scaffolding underneath will find something worth following here.
