Synopsis

Bored with the monotony of high school life, Akane Niimura decides to fix that by joining the most unusual club on campus, the Futa Club, an all-futanari organization whose members spend their free time in very adult ways. The catch: Akane is a regular girl, which means she can't be a full member. Instead, she gets slotted into the role of 'service specialist,' which is exactly as subservient as it sounds. The two-episode OVA from Studio 9 Maiami is adapted from the manga and leans fully into its niche premise without much apology. It's short, it's explicit, and it knows exactly what it is, a hentai built around a school club setup that gives the whole thing a slightly comedic, almost slice-of-life framing before it gets into the actual content. The club dynamic and Akane's outsider-trying-to-fit-in situation give it a thin but functional narrative thread that distinguishes it from purely plotless entries in the genre. If you've already seen Futa-bu!! or Futa-bu! Mix: Futanari World, this is essentially where that world started, so it's worth going back to the beginning. If futanari content is something you're curious about and want an entry point that at least has a recognizable setting and a central character to follow, this two-episode run covers the basics without overstaying its welcome.

Futa‑bu! holds a cult‑status reputation in the adult OVA space, adapted from Milk Soft’s visual novel. What sets it apart is its surprisingly earnest approach to a wild, high‑concept premise centered on an after‑school club. While explicit in nature, the series manages to balance its genre expectations with a structured and engaging narrative arc, making it more robust than many of its contemporaries. The pacing is one of its strongest assets. The story moves briskly without feeling rushed, handling its episodic structure well. Each installment sets up character motivations and delivers on the core genre beats cleanly within its limited runtime, keeping viewers consistently engaged. Visually, the series is polished for a vintage adult OVA. Character designs are expressive, and the animation holds up reasonably well, ensuring that key sequences are delivered with clarity. The visuals support both the comedic and dramatic beats effectively, giving the production a sense of consistency. The writing also surprises by leaning into comedy, camaraderie, and absurd club dynamics. This gives the characters more personality than typical disposable fare, adding a layer of charm that elevates the series beyond pure fan service. The upbeat energy and camaraderie of the club dynamic create a strangely endearing atmosphere, resonating more than expected and delivering genuine entertainment for its target demographic. The weakest element lies in the soundtrack. While the background music and audio design fulfill their purpose adequately, they don’t stand out as particularly memorable or distinctive. The audio supports the comedic and explicit beats but never rises above functional. Overall, Futa‑bu! is a surprisingly robust entry in its niche. By blending high‑concept adult tropes with genuine comedic heart and solid pacing, it distinguishes itself as more than just disposable genre fare. For those familiar with or invested in this corner of anime, it’s a standout watch that balances absurdity with structure, delivering exactly what its cult reputation promises.
