Forbidden Love Club
Oshimeter
Synopsis
When a shy high schooler develops a crush on Kasumi, the new transfer student, he can't bring himself to say a single word to her. His childhood friend Minami has a solution: join the Love Club, a group dedicated to helping students who are too nervous to act on their feelings. It sounds perfect — until he joins and discovers that Kasumi is already a member, trying to work up the courage to confess to someone. Someone who isn't him. That's the setup for Kimihagu, a 2-episode OVA from 2009 based on a visual novel, and it leans into that quiet, awkward ache of liking someone who's chasing someone else. The Love Club framing is a clever way to get all these emotionally tangled people into the same room, which keeps the interactions feeling natural rather than forced. The tone is light but not fluffy — it takes the protagonist's internal struggle seriously without turning melodramatic. If you've seen Kimikiss: Pure Rouge and liked how it handled multiple intersecting crushes without making anyone a villain, this hits a similar note on a smaller scale. It's the kind of short watch you put on when you want something grounded in that specific feeling of being young, hopeful, and slightly in over your head. Two episodes, no padding, and a premise that knows exactly what emotional territory it's working in.
