Faint Sunset
Oshimeter
Synopsis
A singing-obsessed high schooler named Yuuhi sees her life take a sharp turn when she finds a pendant that gives her actual magical powers. Now she's part of 'Magical Girl holoWitches,' a group that fights dark forces threatening their city — through music. This is a single music video from CloverWorks, so think of it less as a full story and more as a beautifully animated snapshot of a magical girl world where the battles and the performances are basically the same thing. The animation during the musical sequences is genuinely gorgeous, which you'd expect from the studio behind things like Bocchi the Rock and Oshi no Ko. The song itself, 'Kasukana Yuuhi,' carries this bittersweet energy that fits the faint sunset imagery — it's engaging without trying too hard. If you liked the music-meets-combat energy of Symphogear or the magical girl team dynamics of Nanoha, this hits a similar sweet spot, just in a much more condensed format. There's also a hint of that emotional weight you get from something like Madoka Magica, though the tone here stays warmer. It's really about friendship, finding your voice, and looking cool while doing it. At one episode, it's not a commitment — just a few minutes of well-crafted magical girl goodness with a strong musical backbone. Worth your time if you're into either genre, and especially if you're into both.
